Creative designed bar codes

Not so long ago, the packaging design industry realised they could play with bar codes to communicate: it only requires a few millimeters tall of code for it to be read-able, so there’s plenty of things you can do with the rest of it. You’re probably not used to seeing any design applied to this part of a package, or most surely, you don’t even look at it. But in Japan it’s becoming a very popular trend, and there’s a design studio, D-Barcode, that specializes on this subject. Here’s my favourites:
