Wanderlust: new Bjork video
‘Fantastic, magical, amazing, unbelievable!’
That’s how most comments over the net describe the video for Bjork’s latest single “Wanderlust” from the Volta album. There’s been a lot of expectation about this one, but I gotta say I’m a little disappointed with it.
I dig the visuals, it’s clear that a lot of time was invested on making it, but still, it doesn’t reach the heights of most of her work. Don’t get me wrong, I love Bjork, I had the chance to see her live last year for the Volta Tour and the show just blew my mind. But just take a look at her previous videos (lots of them directed by a personal hero, Michel Gondry) to see how groundbreaking most of them are. This one tries to be it too, but doesn’t make it in my opinion.
However, the 3D High-definition version is on its way, so stay tuned for it at Bjork.com, and let’s hope it makes up for the 2D version.

well, I love the metaphorical angle of it. I love it when aspects of consciousness or concepts are represented as literal things. But over all, I find this sort of imagery to feel too druggy and negative in general. It doesn’t feel beautiful and inspiring, rather kind of icky and cold. Perhaps the artists meant for it to feel that way. My question for that is always, why?
