“Fidel’s tradition of long speeches began in 59, when he had to explain to cubans why he expelled their best rum.”

“The caribbean has never seen a pirate like Fidel. He stole an island and threw the treasure away.”

Taking advantage of Fidel’s announcement being the latest news, this campaign for Matusalem Rum was released. Maybe picking on him a bit, but it’s really good. I love the layered handmade-feel of the art direction and you can almost taste the product visually. See with moderation!

And the best for last, check this hilarious TV spot for the same campaign.

This is a great idea, no doubt about it…but does it work?

Just imagine you run into an almost completely sunk billboard on the beach…you'd be intriged, that's OK, but you wouldn't get it… Then another person sees the full billboard, as the tide is low. It's just an ad stuck on the beach, nothing new.

The working-ad scenario would be for people who go through that part of the beach often and get to see all the states depending on the tide. In that case, damn this is a terrific ad! The point is that as you can't see both stages of the advert at the same time, there's no way you can get it, except you see it on a blog ;-)

Have we had enough on ads picking on George Bush as a mistake?
I know I haven’t, and I guess you all can handle a few more :D
